NAA Artist Member Mike Dorsey will have a solo exhibition of his paintings 6/27 -7/2 in the Hills Gallery 65 Water Street, Newburyport, MA. Reception 6/30 5-7p.m. free and open to the public.
Working in plein air, he is able to find the magic in a scene through composition and light.
F. Michael Dorsey graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design. He studied Illustration while Tom Sqouros (the great water-colorist) was chair, and with the distinguished illustrator and painter Chris Van Allsburg. While at RISD he studied Animation with the gifted teachers and animators Yvonne Andersen, and Amy Kravitz. Post graduation, he has studied with such prestigious painters as Guy Corriero, Caleb Stone, Mark Hayden, Janet Sutherland, Donald Jurney and Don Stone.
Michael is a Juried Artist Member of the North Shore Art Association, one of the oldest Artist Associations in the country and home to some of the great of New England painters. He graduated with a BFA in Illustration and Animation, winning over 7 national and international awards for his the animated film “Twilight” which he co-created with fellow artist Rolf Bronniman. His film was also nominated for the New England region of the student Academy Awards. He is collected in throughout the USA, Europe and Canada.
